How long freight takes between the mainland capitals on DSE's linehaul network, by service level. These are indicative times only — the transit time that counts is the one we confirm with you on booking.

Road freight is not an airline timetable. As our linehaul team puts it: while we aim to have your delivery at a set time for you, this is dictated by the driver, his fatigue and traffic. Full transit times are provided on booking — that confirmation, not this table, is the commitment.
Where a lane below says Contact us for transit time, it means exactly that: we run the lane, but we have not published a standard transit time for it, and we would rather quote you a real one than a guessed one.
Three ways your freight can travel interstate
Transit time follows the service you pick, and the service you can pick follows the size of the load. Ten pallets is the line between a truck of your own and a spot on a consolidated run.
Dedicated linehaul
10 pallets or more
Your freight travels on its own truck — collected, driven and delivered without touching a consolidation hub. Ex Sydney, that means Brisbane or Melbourne the following business day.
Express pallet service
1 – 9 pallets
Consolidated, but made priority. Following business day ex Sydney to Melbourne or Brisbane. Express is 20% more expensive than the general service.
General pallet service
1 – 9 pallets
The standard consolidated pallet rate: 2 to 3 days ex Sydney to Brisbane and Melbourne. The right choice when the delivery date matters more than the delivery hour.

Capital city lanes
DSE runs linehaul to all capital cities, plus many rural and regional destinations. Of the 20 capital-to-capital lanes, 2 have a published standard transit time — the rest are quoted per booking.

We move freight on all of these lanes — we just quote the transit time per booking rather than publish a standard one. Send us the pickup and delivery postcodes and we will come back with a real number.
Four things that decide your actual transit time
Load size
Ten pallets or more travels dedicated — one job, one truck, no hub. Under ten pallets joins a consolidated run, which adds handling at each end.
Driver hours and fatigue
Heavy vehicle fatigue rules are not negotiable at DSE. A leg that looks like a single drive on a map may legally need a rest break, and we plan for it rather than around it.
Traffic and access
Metro congestion at either end, and whether the delivery site can take a large vehicle, both move the delivery window. Tell us about access on booking.
Equipment at the dock
No forklift at pickup or delivery? We have tail lifts, cranes and hand unload crews — but we need to know before the truck is allocated, not when it arrives.
Regional and country deliveries
All our offices cater for dedicated trucks into regional Australia, and we can move pallet quantities into regional areas on a consolidated service — noting that consolidation to those areas uses a trusted transport partner. Regional transit times are always quoted per job.
Interstate pallets going to a residential address or a site without a forklift can be handled too, usually as a separate final-leg service from the consolidation yard. Flag it at booking and we will allocate the right vehicle.

What is the transit time for a full load?
If the booking is 10 pallets or more, we would complete your job with a dedicated linehaul delivery, if collected in Sydney today it would be in Brisbane or Melbourne the following business day. Please note that while we aim to have your delivery at a set time for you, this is dictated by the driver, his fatigue and traffic. Full transit times are provided on booking.
What is the transit time for a pallet service?
If your booking is 1 – 9 pallets, this transit time does depend on the service you select, express is made priority and will be delivered the following business day ex Sydney to Melbourne or Brisbane, however express is 20% more expensive. General service would have your pallet arriving 2 to 3 days ex Sydney to Brisbane and Melbourne. Full transit times are provided on booking.
Does DSE Transport complete regional/country Australia deliveries?
Yes, all our offices cater for your dedicated trucks into regional Australia. We also do have ability to move your pallet movements in regional areas in a consolidated service, please note consolidation service to these areas are using a trusted transport partner.
