How we handle personal information when you use our website, book freight with us, receive a delivery or apply to drive for DSE.

Last updated 17 September 2026

DSE Transport Pty Ltd ACN 630 466 545 ("DSE", "we", "us") is bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, and how you can access or correct it or make a complaint.

It covers this website (dsetransport.au), our quote and booking tools, our customer portal (myDSE), and the information we handle when we move freight. Drivers using the DSE Driver App should also read the Driver App Privacy Policy. How we use cookies is set out in our Cookies Policy.

1. The information we collect

When you contact us or ask for a quote

Your name, company, email address, phone number and state, and whatever you tell us in your message. For freight quotes, also the pickup and delivery suburbs and postcodes and details of the goods (number of pallets, dimensions and weight). If you ask us to call you back, your preferred date and time.

When you book or use our services

The names, business names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses of the people involved in a job: the customer, the sender and the receiver. This includes delivery instructions and reference numbers. If you are a customer we also hold billing and account details, and portal login details for your staff.

When we deliver to you

The receiver's name and signature, photos of the delivered goods and the delivery location (proof of delivery), the time of delivery, and the location of our vehicle. Some photos may show a person or the front of a property.

When you apply to drive or work with us

Your name, contact details, state, licence class, driving experience, the size of truck you drive, and anything else you include. If your application goes further, we collect what we need to assess it and meet our safety and legal obligations, such as licence and driving history checks, work rights, references and qualifications.

When you use our website

Technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit and how you reached us. With your consent we use Google Analytics, Google Ads and AdRoll cookies to understand how the site is used and to measure and show our advertising (see our Cookies Policy).

Sensitive information

We do not ask customers or website visitors for sensitive information such as health information. For drivers and staff we collect it only where the law requires or allows it, for example fitness-to-drive requirements, and with consent where required.

2. How we collect it

Mostly directly from you: through our website forms, the instant quote tool, the myDSE portal, email, phone and in person. We also collect information from our customers about the people they are sending goods to, from our drivers and subcontractors when they complete a delivery, and from publicly available sources such as business directories.

Calls to and from DSE may be recorded for quality, training and resolving disputes.

You can browse our website and ask general questions without identifying yourself. We can't quote on, book or deliver a job without knowing who and where the goods are going.

3. Why we use it

  • To respond to enquiries and prepare quotes.
  • To book, carry, track and deliver freight, and to give proof of delivery.
  • To send booking, tracking and delivery notifications by email or SMS.
  • To invoice customers, take payment and manage accounts.
  • To handle claims, complaints and disputes.
  • To meet our legal obligations, including Chain of Responsibility, fatigue and work health and safety laws, and tax and record-keeping requirements.
  • To assess driver and job applications.
  • To improve our services and website, and to measure our advertising.
  • To tell customers about our services. You can opt out of marketing at any time by using the unsubscribe link or contacting us.

4. Automated tools and AI

We use software to run our operations efficiently. For example, our instant quote tool prices freight automatically. Our systems also use artificial intelligence services to read and sort incoming emails and to extract information from delivery paperwork and runsheet photos, which our staff then check.

If a decision that significantly affects you is made with the help of a computer program, you can ask us about it, including the kinds of personal information used, and ask for a person to review it.

5. Who we share it with

We share personal information only as needed for the purposes above:

  • Other people in the job. For example, delivery status and proof of delivery go to the customer who booked it.
  • Subcontracted carriers and drivers who carry or deliver the goods.
  • Our service providers, including website and form hosting, our transport management system, email, SMS and phone, cloud storage, accounting, payment processing, analytics and advertising, and AI services.
  • Insurers, assessors and our professional advisers, for claims and advice.
  • Regulators, police and government agencies, such as the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator, where the law requires or allows it.
  • A buyer or successor if all or part of our business is sold or restructured.

We do not sell personal information.

6. How we protect it

We store information in secured systems with access limited to people who need it. We use encrypted connections, access controls and audit logs. We keep personal information only as long as we need it, including to meet legal record-keeping requirements. After that we delete it or de-identify it.

If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify affected people and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.

7. Overseas storage and disclosure

Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia. The main locations are the United States (website hosting and forms, Google Analytics and Ads, AdRoll, email and SMS delivery, payment processing and AI services) and South Korea (the cloud database behind our transport management system and customer portal). Some providers may also use other countries. We take reasonable steps to make sure these providers protect personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

8. Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by contacting us (section 10). We'll confirm your identity first and respond within 30 days. There's normally no charge. If we can't give you access or make a correction, we'll explain why in writing.

9. Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first (section 10) with the details. We'll acknowledge your complaint, look into it and reply in writing within 30 days.

If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
