Freight for Retail & eCommerce

Your customer meets your brand twice: once at the checkout, and once at the front door. DSE Transport delivers the second one — store replenishment, home delivery, installs and returns, moved by drivers who understand they are representing you.

The freight problem

What makes retail freight harder than it looks

Retail and eCommerce freight is not really a transport problem, it is a customer experience problem with a truck attached. Six things reliably go wrong, and all six are about what happens at the delivery point rather than on the road.

The delivery is the part they remember

Your marketing, your product photography and your checkout all get judged again at the front door. A driver who turns up late, dumps a carton in the rain or refuses to bring it inside undoes the lot — which is why DSE treats every home delivery as your brand, not ours.

Bulky goods that couriers quietly decline

Australia Post and the standard courier networks handle small parcels well. Lounges, mattresses, whitegoods, exercise equipment, big-screen televisions and flat-packed furniture are a different job — that is the freight we are built for.

Residential addresses have no dock

No forklift, no loading bay, sometimes no lift and a flight of stairs. Our fleet carries tail lifts and cranes and our crews are equipped to hand-unload, but only if we know before the truck is allocated.

Returns are an afterthought until they are not

Warranty returns, wrong sizes, change of mind, damaged-in-transit swaps. We already run returns and take-backs for existing customers, so the truck that delivers can be the truck that collects.

Store replenishment competes with the DC

Stock has to reach the shop floor without tying up your own vehicles or people. Dedicated hire gives you a truck and driver for the day, doing your run in your order.

Peak trading does not care about your capacity

Sales events, Black Friday, Christmas and end-of-financial-year all land on the same fleet. Access to vans, pantechs, rigids and semis across five branches means the extra volume does not have to become a new carrier relationship.

Fleet classes

The trucks that do most retail work

Parcel vans & pantechs

1–2T vans (1–3 pallets), 1–6T pans (3–10 pallets)

The workhorse for suburban home delivery runs and topping up city stores.

Furniture removals pans

30–60 cubic

Blanket-wrapped, tied down and handled by crews who load furniture for a living. Your warehouse does not need to box anything first.

Medium & heavy rigids

4–14T, 6–16 pallets

Store replenishment and bulk transfers, with tail lift options where the delivery point has no dock.

Semis & B-doubles

22–24 pallets, up to 34 pallets

DC-to-DC and interstate stock movements when a full load is the cheapest way to move it.

At the doorstep

What your customer actually experiences

Arrival notifications

Customers hear from us before the truck arrives, not after they have missed it — including the heads-up that they are next in line.

Care with the goods

Furniture blankets, tie downs and crews who load for a living. Your warehouse does not need to box furniture before we take it.

Proof, in writing

Proof of delivery, photos and paperwork land in the myDSE portal, so a customer service query takes seconds rather than phone calls.

Retail & eCommerce FAQ

If your question isn't here, call us on 1300 660 644.

Can DSE deliver to my customers’ homes as well as to my stores?

Yes. We work with manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers, providing a suitable truck, driver, offsider and equipment to complete home deliveries as well as store-to-store refurbs and replenishment. The one thing we do not do is residential house relocations.

Do you handle returns and reverse logistics?

We do this today for existing customers. That might be returning an item under warranty, collecting a change-of-mind return at the same time as a new delivery, or plugging in a household appliance and taking the packaging away. Tell us the process you want and we train our teams to it.

What happens if the customer is not home?

Our teams keep in touch with your customers directly and send arrival notifications so the window is known in advance. Where a redelivery is unavoidable we log it in the myDSE portal with photos and driver notes so you are never guessing what happened at the door.

Can DSE integrate with our order management or delivery system?

Yes — we can plug smart integrations into your delivery systems via API. Every customer also gets access to the myDSE portal for bookings, live milestone updates on the runsheet, proof of delivery, photos, paperwork, rates, invoices and statements.

The delivery address has no forklift or loading dock. Is that a problem?

No. Our fleet includes multiple tail lifts and cranes, and we can also manage hand load and unload. The important part is telling us on booking so we match the job to the right truck and driver rather than discovering it at the kerb.

Can you move stock between our warehouse and interstate stores?

Yes. For 10 pallets or more we run a dedicated linehaul delivery — collected in Sydney today, in Brisbane or Melbourne the following business day. For 1 to 9 pallets you can choose express, which is prioritised for next business day delivery at about 20% more, or general service at 2 to 3 days. Full transit times are provided on booking.
